Rep. Basile Named to Three Committees 2/28/08 - State Representative Carlo Basile, (D-East Boston) received his committee assignments for the 2007-2008 Legislative Session. House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi assigned Representative Basile to the following committees: Joint Committee on Transportation, The Joint Committee on Education and the Joint Committee on Telecommunication, Utilities and Energy. “I am honored to be appointed to these three important Committees. These posts come with much responsibility and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. I am especially pleased with being appointed to the Joint Committee on Transportation. Having representation from East Boston on this committee will serve to be very beneficial to the community considering we are home to the country’s 16th busiest Airport, five MBTA stations, major roadways and tunnels,” said Basile. “I would also like to thank Speaker DiMasi for the trust he has put in me and for the opportunity to serve on these three important committees.” The Transportation Committee considers all matters concerning the development, operation, regulation and control of all means of transportation in the air, on land or in the water, the imposition of tolls on tunnels or bridges and such other matters as may be referred. The Education Committee considers all matters concerning education. The Telecommunication Committee considers all matters concerning the exploration, exploitation and development of energy sources, such as coal, gas, oil, nuclear fusion, solar rays, tidal movement, etc., including the sites of energy facilities, public utilities, wind farms, and bottle bill. This is Representative Basile’s first term in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He was elected in a special election in November.
